Hitachi KTM fuelled by Milwaukee tackled another round of the 2021 FIM Motocross World Championship today; France was the destination for the world’s greatest riders and teams. The petite village of Lacapelle-Marival hosted the Grand Prix of France, which was tackled by Conrad Mewse in the MX2 division and Conor Mullan in EMX250. Adam Sterry missed the event, as he sustained a hand injury one week ago. Mewse had a difficult day on the hard-pack surface, which started when he qualified in seventeenth in the morning. The poor gate pick meant that his starts suffered – he ended lap one in twenty-fifth in moto one and twentieth in moto two. Mewse just missed out on points in the first stint, as he finished in twenty-first, but he made it back to nineteenth in moto two to record two valuable points. A 21-19 scorecard left Mewse in twenty-third in the overall classification. Seventeenth is the spot that he occupies in the championship standings, a ranking that he will try to improve on at the MXGP of Spain next week. Mewse has fond memories of the Spanish Grand Prix, as he slotted into pole position at the event a year ago.pretty good with an 11th in race one, which is a good result for me on a track like this. I was hoping for more of the same or better in race two but in a section of the track with a lot of shadows I tucked the front wheel and went over the bars. The bike hit me on my shoulder and unfortunately, I damaged the bike too much to continue. It’s disappointing to end the GP like this but I think I will be ok for next weekend.” Mullan, a rising star making his first appearance in EMX250, missed out on a qualifying spot in time practice. One measly second separated him from a transfer position, but valuable experience was gained on the slick hard-pack layout. Hitachi KTM fuelled by Milwaukee will turn their attention to the Grand Prix of Spain now, as mentioned above, which will be run at the intu Xanadú-Arroyomolinos venue this coming weekend. The event will act as round thirteen of eighteen. Conrad Mewse: “It has not been the weekend that any of us wanted. It is difficult for us all to accept these results. I did not gel with the track in qualifying this morning and missed that aggression from the last couple of weeks. We will go back to work this week and work towards the next few rounds.
