Mewse makes impressive progress at Pietramurata 1 Hitachi KTM fuelled by Milwaukee tackled the first triple header of the current campaign earlier today. The Grand Prix of Trentino, the first of three events at the scenic venue of Pietramurata, acted as the fourteenth round of the 2021 FIM Motocross World Championship. Conrad Mewse was the sole representative for the team aboard his KTM 250 SX-F. The opening moto was the greatest for Mewse at Pietramurata. Hindered by a mediocre start again, much like in France, he did not waste any time and charged forward on the difficult circuit. Twentieth was where he was at the end of lap one, but he was already up in thirteenth by the fourth lap. Tenth was the spot that he eventually secured – a fantastic effort. Mewse put that momentum to good use in the second moto, as he had a solid start and exited turn one in the top eight. Unfortunately, he was caught up in the carnage in the second corner and dropped all of the way back to twenty-sixth. A pit stop to straighten out his bike then meant that he had to come back from thirty-fourth. Mewse charged until the very end and salvaged an eighteenth, however, so secured three valuable points. A 10-18 scorecard left him in fifteenth overall at the Grand Prix of Trentino. The next round of the 2021 FIM Motocross World Championship will be held at the same venue in a couple of days, so Hitachi KTM fuelled by Milwaukee will continue to be based in the Pietramurata paddock to get ready for another fiery day of on-track action. Roger Magee (Hitachi KTM fuelled by Milwaukee Team Owner): “Conrad had a really good qualifying today with P8, which afforded a good gate pick. In the first moto he was down in P19 on the opening lap, but got his head down and elevated himself to P10 at the finish on a circuit that is notoriously difficult to pass on. In moto two, he had a really good start in P6 but clashed with [Mattia] Guadagnini in the first two corners and dropped down to P26 having had to pit to straighten the front wheel. Again, he was able to make good progress and ended up P18 at the chequered flag. The team now will prepare for Wednesday’s MXGP at the same circuit without the need to travel.” |
